Bent On Learning at Solstice Times Square

FullSizeRender (10)

June 21 was International Yoga Day and the first day of Summer. BOL participated in a BIG way at Times Square Alliance’s Solstice in Times Square, Mind Over Madness Yoga. With classes taking place throughout day, Bent On Learning staff and students took in the sights, finding stillness and calm among thousands of yogis, practicing with the staff and volunteers from Exhale to Inhale, our co-charity partner for the event.

Many thanks to Times Square Alliance for their continued support (2017 is our 5th year as a partner in this event!), Exhale to Inhale, event sponsors and especially Aerie. Their mat donations at the end of the event will be distributed to 1,000 BOL students at the start of the upcoming school year. If you attended the event, we encourage you to donate and support our program!

dr-ashBWThis year we honor the late Dr. Richard Ash, long time friend and supporter of Bent On Learning, who devoted his life to working with individuals who had been misdiagnosed, misunderstood, and were tired of being sick. Through his practice at The Ash Center for Comprehensive Medicine and his radio show Sick & Tired of Being Sick & Tired he helped over 25,000 people find relief from chronic illness.  His work of empowering patients to heal and attain health and happiness mirrors Bent On Learning’s mission to teach kids how to be healthier and happier in learning and life.

ALL KIDS DESERVE TO THRIVE IN THE CLASSROOM
#IamBentOnLearning

This month, in support of health and happiness for the 1.1 million New York City public school children during their summer break, Bent On Learning is launching a new campaign to amplify our voice about the important benefits of yoga for kids from grades PreK through 12.  We are striving to grab the attention of more parents, educators and leaders who shape our educational system and impact the social and emotional well-being of our future generation.

Please join us by uploading a video to social media with #IAmBentOnLearning to demonstrate your support!

Your video is your signature that says you are bent on learning — that you believe in the power of yoga for personal and academic success and you want every child to thrive in the classroom.

Follow the script below as a guide for your video statement and  in one sentence —  be as bold, creative, crazy and loud as you wish!

  1. “I am a _______ (parent/teacher/business executive/artist/doctor/etc.) and children need yoga in school because ___________.”
  2. Upload video to your favorite social media sites
  3. Tag it with #iambentonlearning and @bentonlearning
  4. Take great satisfaction in knowing your participation in this social project will help further our mission to integrate yoga into the curriculum of more schools and help kids THRIVE
